Prospective Member Letter
We appreciate the opportunity to share the benefits of becoming a member of the South Central Wisconsin Builders Association with you. We are a not for profit trade organization, comprised of builder and associate members, all of whom are in professions related to the building industry. The members of this Association have joined together to serve, advance, protect, and promote the welfare of the community.
As a member of this Association, you are automatically affiliated with the Wisconsin Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders. Within the Local, State, and National Associations we have representatives lobbying for the interests of the building industry at all levels of government.
Education is another important aspect of this Association. As a member you will be kept up to date on the latest trends, from new products and services, to the latest construction techniques, and the ever-changing government regulations. You will also have access to trade publications and sponsored seminars.
Another means this Association uses to keep you in touch and up to date on issues is through our monthly newsletter, The Communicator. General Membership Meetings in 2012 will be held January 24, March 27, May 29, September 25, October 23 and December 11. December is set aside for the Installation of Officers and the presentation of the Builder and Associate of the Year Awards. These meetings also provide you with an opportunity to socialize with other members, exchange ideas, and gain valuable information.
Some of the other advantages to being a member of this Association include the opportunity to participate in the Parade of Homes, EXPO, Membership Directory and have access to group rate health insurance.
Thank you for considering joining the South Central Wisconsin Builders Association. If you have any questions, or would like more information please call (608) 752-8075. This Association is here to serve you.
Sincerely,
Kevin Ferguson
SCWBA 2012 President

Who is a member?
Everyone in your company. Membership to the South Central Wisconsin Builders Association (SCWBA) is held by the Member Company. The by-laws of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA) and those of SCWBA require a primary contact person for each Member Company. However, all employees of a Member Company are welcome to participate in all activities, events, and committees of SCWBA.
Who is the primary contact?
The primary contact is normally the person who receives all mailings from SCWBA, WBA and NAHB. The primary contact also holds the exclusive right to vote and hold office in the local, state and national associations.
It is the benefit of each Member Company to establish as the primary contact the person who is most likely to be an active and involved member of the Association.
Sometimes people move on, or something changes, and they can no longer fulfill the role as primary contact. The Member Company may authorize a new primary contact at any time, but SCWBA must be notified in order to effect this change.
What is a secondary member?
Any Member Company may have as many active members, participating in year-round committees, provided that the Member Company holds one full membership. The secondary members are welcome at all SCWBA events. When attending the General Membership Meeting a secondary member will be charged for their dinner.
What is dual membership?
Any Member Company may have a dual membership for a specified fee. The dual membership entitles an additional individual employed within the Member Company to all mailings from SCWBA, an additional listing in SCWBA's Membership Directory, the meal at General Membership Meetings at no charge, and may hold a seat on the Board of Directors. However, if both member contacts are elected to the Board of Directors, they will be entitled to one vote for the firm.
If you have any questions or need further clarification on details of your membership, please contact Carol at the SCWBA office (608) 752-8075.
